Proper washing and dewatering of lime mud being fed to the lime kiln is critical to producing quality reburnt lime that is high in both availability and reactivity. Lime mud dewatering aid can dramatically improve washing and increase mud solids, providing energy savings and increased kiln production.
Lime mud dewatering aids are blend of different surfactants. These products work via two primary mechanisms namely Increased Dewatering and Increased Washing (include foam and soda loss control).
The use of lime mud dewatering aids provides benefits;
Improved water removal at the pre-coat lime mud filter has direct impact on the fuel economy of the lime kiln since more heat is required to remove the excess moisture. This is Styrene-acrylic copolymer dispersion surface sizing Chemical. Which is used on paper and paper board’s surface sizing in variety of papermaking conditions. Compared with AKD kind of surface sizing agent, almost has no problems such as maturation period, which can effectively control the quality of the paper sizing. It has a low tendency to foam, it can increase the paper surface strength to a certain extent. This product can partly replace internal sizing, purifying the wet system.

In many paper mills deposits creates serious technological problems. Microbial contamination
in systems running at neutral to alkaline pH is far more severe than at acid pH. The use of
microbiological control Programs helps in the reduction of growth of bacteria, yeast and other

This is an alkaline solvent fabric cleaner designed to remove heavy organic contamination
from dryer screens. This program helps in keeping the dryer fabric surface clean and thus
directly helps in reducing steam consumption with uniform cross moisture profile of sheet. It
also lowers web transfer stability, reduces breaks and downtimes leading to higher production
along with improved paper quality & clothing life. It is a batch process.
5. Acidic/ Alkaline Boilout program:
Boil out is needed to kill bacteria saturated in the back water system. It is a batch process & is
advisible when deposit/slime breaks gets out of control & do not get controlled by biocide
program. Preferably in every one month or two depending upon the raw material being used.
Acidic boil out is advisable after three consecutive alkaline boil out.
Scaling is a very big issue in paper industries where machine backwater & demineralized water are used in the process, affecting the capacity & efficiency of the machinery & equipment.
Scale control agents control the formation of scale in Vacuum pumps, Cooling towers, Evaporator, Brown Stock Washer, Vacuum rolls like couch & pick up rolls, Vacuum condenser, Heat exchanger, etc. to get the optimum efficiency from the system.

Retention aid is the key to cost-saving in a paper mill. between fibers, maintaining higher dewatering rates, lower density of paper & better machine
