Dry strength additives are used to improve paper strength under different conditions by assisting the formation of internal bonds between fibers. Dry strength additives are usually polymers of acrylamide comes in the form of cationic, anionic and amphoteric which are water-soluble chemicals that are mixed with the pulp at the wet end of the paper making process.
Advantages of dry strength chemical:
1. Increase tensile strength of paper
2. Impart increment the degree of paper stiffness
3. Increase sheet caliper/Bulk through reduced pulp refining thus saving energy
4. Perform over a wide pH range
